Download from a link

Videos, photos and audio from TikTok, YouTube and more

Copy the link with the Share button in the app, then paste it here.

Choose a platform

11 platforms, each with its own download page and guide.

How it works

  1. Copy the link to the post. In the app, tap Share and then Copy link. In a browser, copy the address from the address bar.
  2. Paste it into the box above and press Download.
  3. Pick what you want from the list: a video quality, the audio or a photo.
  4. Save it. If the file has to be joined or converted first, the page shows the progress and the download starts when it is ready.
Keep in mind

Prepared files and download links only last a few hours, so save your file when it is ready. Keep downloads for personal use, and ask the rights holder before you repost them.

What you can download from each platform

OpenDown lists the files it gets back for the post you paste. This is what to expect from each platform, including YouTube Shorts and Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

Each platform has its own guide: TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Douyin, Threads, Reddit, Pinterest, Vimeo and Dailymotion.

Free, no app, no account

  • Free to use. There is no paid plan and nothing to unlock.
  • No app or extension to install. OpenDown runs in your browser.
  • No account. You never sign up, and OpenDown never asks for your password on any platform.
  • Works on phones, tablets and computers, in current browsers on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux.

Links that cannot be downloaded

OpenDown works with public posts. These links will not work:

  • Private posts, private accounts, and posts shared only with friends or followers.
  • Posts that were deleted, or removed by the platform.
  • Content you can only see after logging in.
  • Some videos that are locked to certain countries.
  • Live streams while they are live.
  • Profiles, channels and playlists. Paste the link of a single post or video instead.

When a link fails, the message under the box says why, if the platform gave a reason.

Frequently asked questions

Is OpenDown free?

Yes. There is no paid plan, no account and nothing to install. It works in the browser on phones and computers.

Where does the file go after I download it?

To your browser's usual download location. On iPhone and iPad with Safari, that is the Downloads folder in the Files app, where you can open a video and tap Share, then Save Video, to add it to Photos. On Android, it is usually the Download folder, which you can open in the Files app.

Why do some files take a while?

Many videos arrive as separate picture and sound streams, and some have to be converted to MP4 or MP3. A processing server joins or converts them before the download starts, and the page shows the progress. Longer videos take longer, so keep the page open until the file is saved.

Can I download only the audio?

Yes, when the platform provides the sound separately. YouTube gives M4A and MP3, TikTok gives MP3, and Facebook, Reddit and Pinterest give M4A for most videos. Douyin posts usually include the sound. Threads gives separate audio for some posts, such as audio posts and photo posts with music. Instagram, X, Vimeo and Dailymotion do not provide a separate audio file.

What quality will I get?

The qualities the platform offers for that post, listed before you download. YouTube goes up to 1080p. TikTok and Douyin give one MP4 version without the watermark. OpenDown cannot add quality that the platform does not provide.

Does OpenDown keep the videos I download?

No. OpenDown does not host content. Prepared files are deleted automatically, usually within a few hours, and download links expire, so save the file when it is ready.
