How to download a Pinterest video
- Open the pin, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address of the pin page.
- Paste the link into the box above and press Download.
- Pick a video resolution, the audio file or the image.
- Save the file. Video pins take a few seconds while the picture and sound are joined, so keep the page open.
Quality and formats
Pinterest streams video pins with the picture and the sound in separate tracks. For the resolution you pick, OpenDown joins them into one MP4 on its server, without re-encoding.
Image pins are saved from the 736 pixel wide version Pinterest shows in its feed, as JPG. This can be smaller than the original upload. GIF pins are saved as the original GIF instead.
For pins with several images or pages, only the first image or video is saved.
Links that cannot be downloaded
- Pins on secret boards: only the board owner and invited people can see them.
- Deleted pins: the link no longer leads to a pin.
- Board, profile and search links: open one pin and copy its link.
Saving on iPhone and Android
- iPhone and iPad: Safari saves the file to the Downloads folder in the Files app. To add it to Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video or Save Image.
- Android: Chrome saves the file to the Downloads folder, and most gallery apps show it there.
- Computer: the file goes to your browser's usual download folder.
Keep downloads for personal use, and ask the rights holder before you repost them.

Do pin.it short links work?
Yes. OpenDown opens the short link to find the pin, then lists its files.
Does the video keep its sound?
Yes, when the pin has sound. The picture and sound are joined into one MP4, and the sound is also offered on its own as an M4A file.
Why is the image smaller than the original?
OpenDown saves image pins at 736 pixels wide, the size Pinterest uses in its feed. Larger originals are not fetched. GIF pins are the exception: you get the original GIF.
Can I download a whole board?
No. OpenDown works one pin at a time. Open a pin on the board and copy its link.
Can I download a GIF from Pinterest?
Yes. A GIF pin is saved as the original GIF file, not as a still image.
