What you can download from TikTok

A video post gives you the video and its sound. A photo post gives you every photo. When the post has a sound, you also get the sound and a video made from the photos.

How to download a TikTok video

  1. In the TikTok app, open the video, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address of the video page.
  2. Paste the link into the box above and press Download.
  3. Pick the file you want: the video, a photo or the MP3.
  4. Save it. Videos, photos and sounds are ready right away. A video made from a photo post is built on the OpenDown server first, and the page shows the progress.
Short links work

Short links from the app (vm.tiktok.com, vt.tiktok.com) work the same as full tiktok.com links. For videos from the Chinese app, use the Douyin downloader.

Quality and formats

TikTok keeps a playback copy of each video without the watermark. That copy is the one you get, as an MP4 that is usually H.264. It is not re-encoded, so it keeps the quality TikTok serves.

Each video comes as one file, in the resolution TikTok provides for it. There is no separate list of qualities to choose from.

For a photo post with a sound, the MP4 is a 1080 × 1920 video that shows the photos with the sound, the way the post plays in the app. The photos themselves are saved at the size TikTok serves them, and the sound is saved as MP3.

Links that cannot be downloaded

  • Private videos: only the creator or their friends can see them.
  • Deleted videos and videos still under review: the link does not open a video.
  • Age-restricted videos: TikTok shows them only to logged-in viewers.
  • Videos blocked by country: TikTok allows them only in some countries.
  • Ads that are not on the creator's profile: TikTok shows these videos only as paid ads.
  • LIVE streams, profiles, playlists and search pages: paste the link of one video or photo post.

Saving on iPhone and Android

  • iPhone and iPad: Safari saves the file to the Downloads folder in the Files app. To add a video to Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video.
  • Android: Chrome saves the file to the Downloads folder, and most gallery apps show it there.
  • Computer: the file goes to your browser's usual download folder.
Before you repost

Keep downloads for personal use, and ask the rights holder before you repost them.

Frequently asked questions

Does the video have the TikTok watermark?

No. The file you get is TikTok's own playback copy, which is stored without the watermark. Nothing is cropped or blurred to hide it.

Can I download a TikTok photo post?

Yes. You get each photo as a separate image. When the post has a sound, you also get the sound as MP3 and an MP4 that plays the photos with it.

Can I save only the sound as MP3?

Yes. The sound of the post is listed as an MP3 file next to the video or the photos.

Can I download every video from a TikTok profile?

No. OpenDown works one post at a time: open a video or photo post and copy its link. Profile, playlist and LIVE links cannot be downloaded.

Why does it say the video is unavailable?

The video is private, deleted, age-restricted, limited to some countries or still under review. OpenDown can only download videos that open without a TikTok account.
