About OpenDown

OpenDown is a free web tool that downloads videos, photos and audio from a link you paste. It runs in your browser, with no app and no account.

What OpenDown does

You paste a link to a public post from TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Douyin, Threads, Reddit, Pinterest, Vimeo or Dailymotion. Unlisted Vimeo videos work too when you have the full link. OpenDown reads the post and lists the files it contains: the video in the qualities the platform offers, the photos, or the sound. You pick one and save it.

Each platform has its own page that explains what you get from it and which links will not work, for example TikTok and YouTube.

How a download works

  1. Your browser sends the link to OpenDown.
  2. OpenDown passes it to its processing service, which asks the platform for the post and returns the list of files.
  3. A file that is already complete, such as a photo or most TikTok videos, downloads straight away.
  4. When the picture and sound come as separate streams, or the file has to be converted to MP4 or MP3, a processing server joins or converts it first. The page shows the progress while it works.
  5. The finished file arrives as a normal download in your browser.
Save the file when it is ready

Prepared files are deleted automatically, usually within a few hours, and download links expire.

What OpenDown does not do

  • It does not host or publish any content. Files come from the platform that published them.
  • It cannot open private posts or anything that needs a login.
  • It does not ask you to create an account, pay, or install anything.
  • The privacy page explains how data is handled and which cookies may be set.

Not affiliated with any platform

TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Douyin, Threads, Reddit, Pinterest, Vimeo and Dailymotion are trademarks of their owners. OpenDown is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any of them. Their names appear here only to say which links OpenDown works with.
